On the role of dendritic cells in the pathogenesis of vitiligo

Proshutinskaya D.V., Volnukhin V.A., Katunina O.R., Rezaikina A.V.

Abstract

The authors give the results of immunohistochemistry studies of the skin of 16 healthy volunteers and 16 patients suffering from vulgar vitiligo with the determination of the contents of immature (CD1a+) and mature (CD83+) subpopulations of dendritic cells (DCs) as well as CD4+ and CD8+ lymphocytes in the epidermis and perivascular infiltrates of the derma. They revealed an increased quantity of CD1a+ and CD83+ DCs in areas of depigmented, peripheral and perifocal normally pigmented skin of vitiligo foci. DCs with the CD1a+ phenotype were revealed both in the epidermis and in the derma while DCs with the CD83+ phenotype were revealed in the derma only. A higher quantity of CD4+ and CD8+ lymphocytes than in healthy volunteers was also revealed along with the increased contents of DCs in all three areas of vitiligo foci. The authors established a strong correlation between the quantity of CD83+ DCs and CD4+ lymphocytes in the depigmentation zone (r=0.84; Р<0.001). The data obtained prove the involvement of CD1a+ and CD83+ DCs in the pathogenesis of vitiligo and their participation in the initiation of T-cell response in the affection foci.

Assessment of the cytokine profile in psoriasis patients against the background of an immune-modulating therapy

OKHLOPKOV V.A., MEDVEDCHIKOV E.K., DOLGIKH T.I., PRAVDINA O.V., GORODILOV R.V., ZARAYEVA I.F.

Abstract

The authors examined the clinical effect and dynamics of immunological indices (IL-1ƒ, IL-6, TNF-ƒ, IFN-ƒ) at the progressing and stationary stages of psoriasis with the administration of Stemokin®. A reliable reduction of IL-1ƒ, TNF-ƒ и IFN-ƒ was observed against the background of treatment and was accompanied with an evident clinical effect. Two variants of the immune system response were revealed for the complex therapy.

Role of correction of metabolic disorders in the complex therapy of acne in women

Perlamutrov Y.N., Gofman V.E., Olkhovskaya K.B.

Abstract

The prevalence and genetic origin of acne explain the urgency of searching for new dermatosis treatment methods. The occurrence of acne in women is stipulated by hyperandrogynous conditions and is often accompanied with insulin resistance. The administration of Metformin in the complex therapy of acne in women with insulin resistance contributes to considerable improvement of the clinical course of dermatosis and achievement of remission for a greater number of patients.

Clinical, molecular and genetic studies of efficacy and safety of using UV irradiation for psoriasis patients

Zhilova M.B., Kubanov A.A., Lesnaya I.N., Frigo N.V., Volkov I.A., Znamenskaya L.F., Volnukhin V.A.

Abstract

The authors give the results of clinical, molecular and genetic studies of efficacy and safety of treatment of 87 patients suffering from extensive psoriasis with the use of UV irradiation of different spectral ranges. They showed that the administration of a course of treatment with the use of the PUVA therapy or narrowband medium-wave UV therapy with the wavelength of 311 nm does not result in the development of any clinically significant genetic mutations associated with the DNA excision repair system. They revealed that the GC genotype of the XPC gene in the 32828 site and CC genotype of the XPF gene in the 27945 site may be predictors of a pronounced therapeutic effect in treatment of patients with the use of phototherapy methods. The authors obtained data confirming a possible protective role of T>C polymorphism in the 27945 site of the XPF gene in the development of phototoxic reactions when psoriasis patients undergo an UV therapy.

Prevalence and clinical manifestations of cheilitis in children suffering from atopic dermatitis.

Toropova N.P., Lepeshkova T.S., Teplova S.N.

Abstract

The authors present the results of studying clinical manifestations of cheilitis in 143 children suffering from atopic dermatitis. The severe stage of cheilitis was observed in 42.7% of children, the medium to severe stage - in 35.7%, the mild stage - in 21.6%. The authors revealed more frequent development of episodes of bronchial obstruction (55.3%) and recurrent respiratory diseases (69.2%) in such children. They also revealed defects of barrier, anticolonial and microbicide functions of the secretory immunity of the patients oral cavity. The administration of Imudon in the complex therapy produced a good therapeutic effect in 77.4% of children and reduced the frequency of development of acute respiratory diseases.
