Methods for typing std pathogens (N. Gonorrhoeae, C. Trachomatis, T. Pallidum)

SIDORENKO S.V., SOLOMKA V.S., KOZhUShNAYa O.S., FRIGO N.V., Sidorenko S.V., Solomka V.S., Kozhushnaya O.S., Frigo N.V.

Abstract

Phenotypic methods were initially used for bacterial typing yet they have a number of drawbacks limiting their use. Methods of molecular and genetic typing have become wide-spread today. Among these methods, bacterial typing based on multilocus sequence typing (Multilocus Sequence Typing - MLST) has been developing at the fastest rate. However, schemes of molecular and genetic typing of STD pathogens as compared to other bacteria are insufficiently developed, which considerably complicates the planning of measures aimed at the reduction of their spread.

Results of an experimental study of the UV radiation effect on the photosensitive skin protein

Savchenko I.A., Ruksha T.G., Salmin V.V., Zykova L.D., Savchenk o I.A., Ruksha T.G., Salmin V.V., Zykova L.D.

Abstract

TsPO (18 kDa translocator protein) is a photosensitive protein regulating processes of skin proliferation and apoptosis. Changes in the conformational properties of TsPO correlate with the intensity of cell proliferation. Changes in the TsPO level in the ratsskin after exposure to UV radiation were assessed with the use of immunohistochemical staining. It was revealed that the dose of 200 J/m2 causes a unidirectional increase in the TsPO and PCNA (a cell proliferation marker) levels in the skin. UV radiation in the doses of 400-600 J/m2 induces a reduction of TsPO and PCNA expression. Thus, there is a possibility that TsPO participates in the regulation of changes in the intensity of cell proliferation in the skin under the exposure to UV radiation.

Automated assessment of spinal fluid examination results in passivehemagglutination reaction in neurosyphilis diagnostics

Katunin G.L., Frigo N.V., Rotanov S.V., Kitaeva N.V., Nesterenko V.G., Suslov A.P., Katunin G.L., Frigo N.V., Rotanov S.V., Kitayeva N.V., Nesterenko V.G., Suslov A.P.

Abstract

Spinal fluid samples collected from 50 patients suffering from neurosyphilis (key group) and 30 patients with a nervous system pathology and craniocerebral injuries without any signs of syphilis in the anamnesis (control group) were examined in the course of regulated serological tests to reveal anti-T. pallidum antibodies (complement-fixation test with a treponemal antigen, complementfixation test with a cardiolipin antigen, immunofluorescence test with whole spinal fluid, ELISA) as well as in the course of TPHA with the use of modified methods with the end-point dilution of spinal fluid as 1:4. Visual assessment was used to assess the TPHA results with the determination of the result positivity degree expressed in conditional units - «pluses», along with the automated assessment using the Criterion 2 hardware system. Comparative results of visual and instrumental assessments of the spinal fluid study results in TPHA revealed full compliance of the qualitative study results and 97.5% correspondence in the results expressed in conditional units («pluses»), which provides sufficient grounds for recommending the Criterion 2 automatic diagnostics complex for TPHA image assessment to be used in clinical and diagnostic laboratories in health care institutions for determining treponemal specific antibodies in spinal fluid for neurosyphilis diagnostics.

Clinical efficacy of the microwave therapy for infectious and inflammatorydiseases of the urogenital system

Abuduev N.K., Burtsev O.A., Abuduyev N.K., Burtsev O.A.

Abstract

The article describes complex treatment of 56 patients suffering from with chronic prostatitis and vesiculitis with the use of microwave irradiation (of the cm range). This complex therapy made it possible to achieve better results in the main group of patients vs. the comparison group (71 people), who received only drug treatment. Treatment resulted in the normalization of the leukocyte count in the prostate gland discharge and venous circulation rate in the prostatic plexus. A reduction in the diameter of the venous lumen was observed in more cases in the group of patients undergoing a microwave therapy than in the comparison group.

Assessment of the efficacy of a new zinc pyrithione drug, Cinocap®, for treatment of patients with seborrheic dermatitis

Sheklakova M.N., Sheklakova M.N.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of a zinc pyrithione drug, Cinocap® aerosol, and assess its therapeutic equivalence to the original drug, Skin-Cap® aerosol, in patients with seborrheic dermatitis. Study design: prospective, open-label, randomized comparative clinical study. Patients (40) aged 18-65 were randomized into two statistically comparable groups. Patients from the first group received a monotherapy with Cinocap® aerosol for 14 days while patients from the second group were treated with Skin-Cap® aerosol. Based on the data obtained in the course of the study, it was proved that Cinocap® is an efficient drug for treatment of seborrheic dermatitis and is comparable to the original drug, Skin-Cap®, by its therapeutic effect and safety.

Current approach to improving balanoposthitis therapy

Perlamutrov Y.N., Chernova N.I., Perlamutrov Y.N., Chernova N.I.

Abstract

Widespread occurrence of balanoposthitis results in the need to develop highly efficient treatment methods. The activity of clinical manifestations of the disease is directly related to the condition of local immunity and opportunistic flora as well as presence of a viral infection. Application of the Epigen Intim spray having anti-inflammatory, wound-healing, antiviral and immunomodulatory properties for treatment of irritant balanoposthitis proved to be efficient in 90% of the study subjects. The drug therapy reduced the duration of disease manifestations and increased the remission term. The suggested treatment method optimizes treatment of balanoposthitis.

Functional condition of the lip skin: effect of the age and hormone replacementtherapy

Gubanova E.I., Gubanova Y.I.

Abstract

Goal: To assess the effect of the age and hormone replacement therapy (HRT) on the functional properties of the lip skin in women. Materials and methods: The author conducted a comparative study of the functional properties of lips in 4 groups (young women at the age of 20-34 and 40-49 with regular menstrual cycles, two groups of post-menopausal women taking and not taking HRT). The following was assessed: degree of skin oiliness on the forehead, on the lower lip - transepidermal waster loss (TEWL), mechanical deformation and elasticity, color, tactile sensitivity, hydration. Results: Changes in the TEWL, mechanical deformation and tactile sensitivity are age-related while a more saturated color of the lips may be caused by HRT. Skin oiliness is also related to the hormonal profile in women. No effect of the age or hormonal status on the moisture content in the lips was revealed. The study confirmed that the upper lip has a greater moisture content than the lower one. Conclusion: The study revealed a hormonal effect on the skin fat secretion, which reduces during the post-menopausal period and is stimulated by hormone replacement therapy. Age-related changes in the elasticity and tactile sensitivity of the vermilion border are similar to those in skin parameters.
